Retirees’ Dinner Memorial
June 25, 2020
Dear Coast Guard Retiree,
Greetings from Coast Guard City, USA! By this time you have probably heard the unfortunate news that the 2020 Coast Guard Festival has been canceled. We will miss seeing all of you this year at the Retirees’ Dinner, and we are already in the planning stages for next years’ celebration which will be held July 30th – August 8th.
The Coast Guard Festival committee is also mourning the passing of our friend and board member, Don Rempinski after a lengthy battle with cancer. Don was not only the Chairman for the Retiree Dinner; he was also a tireless advocate of the Coast Guard Festival and a board member for decades. We will miss his enthusiasm for all things Coast Guard, and especially his heart for our retirees.
Several of you have asked about contributing to a memorial for Don. The Coast Guard Festival will be honoring him in August in the company of his family when he will be posthumously awarded the Al Merriman Award for extraordinary selfless service to the festival and our Coast Guard. Contributions to Don’s memorial and condolences to his family can be sent to Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival, 113 N 2nd St, Grand Haven, MI 49417.
We are looking forward to seeing all of our Coast Guard retirees back next year! Mark your calendars for the Retirees’ Dinner on August 4th and come enjoy your Coast Guard Festival in 2021!
