WALK OF COAST GUARD HISTORY

Honoring the United States Coast Guard

Walk of Coast Guard History

Friday, August 2nd at noon – Grand Haven City Hall

In 2006 a new event, “The Walk of Coast Guard History” was started to recognize the history of the U.S. Coast Guard and its long lasting relationship with one special city, Grand Haven, Michigan.  Our city, was officially proclaimed “Coast Guard City, U.S.A.” by Presidential Proclamation in November 1998.

Each year a point of history is chosen by the Festival Committee and submitted for approval to the City of Grand Haven.  Once approved, a finely etched brass plaque is prepared to reflect that piece of Coast Guard history we wish to honor.  The “point of history” is accompanied by a 15 inch brass Coast Guard seal and installed into various locations throughout the City.
